SHICHIMI (TOGARASHI) SPICE

 

“Shichimi” in Japanese means “seven flavors” and is mentioned together with the word Togarashi which means chili pepper. It is the Japanese equivalent to the Western “All Spice”. It dates back to the 17th century when the Chinese medicine dealers first created the blend both in Kyoto and Edo (the old name of Tokyo).

A very versatile spice, Japanese use it on a number of dishes including udon noodles, yakitori, shabu- shabu, etc. MyFurusato’s Shichimi Togarashi is a delicate balance of quality, flavor, and taste. Beginning with the main ingredient chili pepper, orange peel and sea lettuce are added to give a unique aromatic fragrance. Then the traditional ingredients of black and white sesame are blended perfectly with garlic and the indigenous Sansho pepper.
